Chalmers Johnson has extensive trial experience and has tried over 90 cases to verdict before juries. He focuses his practice on personal injury, civil rights and employment litigation.
An experienced appellate attorney, he has argued before appeals courts in South Carolina and federal appeals panels for the Fourth Circuit in Virginia more than 30 times. He has argued before the SC Supreme Court on eleven occasions.
He began his career in South Carolina in 1995 clerking for a personal injury attorney. He soon focused on civil rights and employment law and then opened his own law firm in 2000, Chalmers Johnson Law Firm, LLC, with two offices, and several lawyers, serving all counties in South Carolina. They focused on employment law/ civil rights cases and Chalmers soon began to represent clients in state and federal appeals courts. Chalmers is an experienced and zealous litigator who really enjoys being a trial lawyer. He enjoy kayaking, hiking, and running. He is licensed to practice in both South Carolina and Washington state and maintains a caseload in both places.
Chalmers is Of Counsel, with the Nauheim Law Office, which means he has a longstanding and close relationship with the firm. He often works as co-counsel on cases or simply as a trusted consultant. He is not an employee of the firm, an associate or a partner.
